The Biocentric Principle, as proposed by Rolando Toro, is the key
foundation of the theory of Biodanza. It can be stated simply as Life is Sacred and the starting
point is the Vivencia of a universe based on life.
Respect for life becomes the central tenet and the foundation point of all disciplines and human
behaviours.
Humanity is now conscious, for the first time, that we live within a disassociated culture. Our current
cultural, social and economic conditions are anti-life. Changes are required in the way that people are
educated, in order to put life first, and to reverse the crisis we are currently living in. The framework
for these changes is that of Biocentric Education.
The Concept of Biocentric Education
- Biocentric Education is an idea completely different to anything envisaged by western educational
thinkers,
- Biocentric Education is part of a new paradigm of Human Science which is the Biocentric Principle,
- Its objective is connection with life,
- Its methodology is the Vivencia,
- A priority is the development of internal rules of life, not intellectual or technological
information,
- It must stimulate the Genetic Potential, the basic structure of Identity,
- In our culture it is necessary to retrieve the sentiment of the Sacredness of Life, the
enjoyment of living,
- The absolute priority is the development of Affectivity and an amplified perception of the expansion
of ethical consciousness, and
- Biodanza connects traditional and Biocentric Education.
